Approximately twenty-five thousand households in Queensland's southeast found themselves without power on Monday morning after intense storm systems passed over the area, generating powerful gusts topping 109km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Widespread Damage
Locals witnessed large ice chunks reaching sizes of seven centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that different parts across Queensland had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair power throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams activated to handle the widespread outages.
Victoria's Storm Challenges
Meanwhile, around 1,000 residents in Victoria also encountered energy failures after the capital city experienced its wettest day in 18 months.
Emergency response teams responded to nearly 600 calls for help across the state, primarily for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

During the peak on yesterday, in excess of 28k power users in Victoria were experiencing outages.
Climate Outlook
Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along much of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
The following day was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing thunderstorm potential expected across different parts of both states.
Safety Concern
Medical authorities alerted that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the current weather patterns.
This alert comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the state.
