It's a challenge for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the record chasers, are the only things left for a team that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batsmen to maintain a record if never given the chance.

Finally, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a chance to produce her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her bow and seven world titles have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

Whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Some will argue the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it was a disappointing period because it appeared I lacked timing completely," commented Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts take over and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her key asset - and a priceless quality in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from that point Healy was in motion.

"The possibility to go out there and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was removed her side needed 66 more at one run per ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the assurance to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if we do, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the last Australia's opponents at this championship need to hear.

In recent days a belief they will win from any position has only strengthened - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was at that stage they left last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wished she had played with the discomfort.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have delayed consideration of ending her career, this championship is expected to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
